Jeffrey A. Glazer, R.Ph., J.D. (President and Chief Executive Officer)
Jeffrey is a licensed pharmacist and registered patent attorney with over ten years of pharmaceutical industry experience, specializing in pharmaceutical business and product development, licensing, intellectual property and operations. He has an extensive global track record of licensing for both generic and branded products as well as broad experience with commercial operations for the distribution and sale of pharmaceutical products. Prior to Heritage, Jeffrey served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and General Counsel for the U.S. subsidiary of a leading India based generic pharmaceutical company. Jeffrey's responsibilities included managing business development and legal affairs as they related to product portfolio selection, development, licensing, intellectual property and general corporate matters.
Jeffrey previously practiced intellectual property law at Kenyon and Kenyon, a leading national boutique intellectual property law firm, where his concentration was on Hatch-Waxman related generic drug litigation which is the cornerstone of first to market generic product strategies as well as all aspects of intellectual property licensing and portfolio management. Jeffrey has published articles in several nationally recognized publications regarding generic drug patent litigation and biogenerics (See "Can 'Hatch-Waxman' for Generic Biologics Work?" He holds a B.S. in Pharmacy from Long Island University, A&M Schwartz College of Pharmacy and a J.D. from Seton Hall University Law School.
Robert I. Glazer, Ph.D. (Director)
Dr. Glazer is an internationally recognized pharmacologist and tumor biologist who has worked in the drug development and molecular pharmacology fields in both federal and academic laboratories. Since 1989, he has served as Professor, Departments of Pharmacology and Oncology, Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he has been instrumental in leading research in anticancer drug development, as well as cancer etiology and prevention.
Dr. Glazer has served as a consultant for major pharmaceutical companies, including Eli Lilly, Sankyo, Isis and ICN for preclinical and clinical development of anticancer drugs. In addition, he has produced recombinant proteins for commercial use by Life Technologies, Inc. and Upstate Biotechnology, Inc., and is a consultant to SuperArray Bioscience, Inc., a leading producer of gene arrays. Dr. Glazer is a co-inventor on over five U.S. Patents, several which are pending. Dr. Glazer serves or has served on the Editorial Advisory Boards of two internationally recognized pharmacology journals, and is a founding member of the American Journal of Nanomedicine, a new journal focused on cutting edge research in nanotechnology and drug delivery. He has published more than 185 papers on the molecular and pharmacological aspects of cancer therapy and tumor biology.
He holds a B.S. in pharmacy and an M.S. in pharmacology from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Indiana University.
Philip A. Epstein, J.D. (Chairman)
Philip is an experienced executive manager and corporate attorney who has worked as a senior executive in the global energy and biopharmaceutical industries. Philip has raised and successfully deployed over $500 million in capital for both public and private companies. Since 1999, Philip has served as managing director of Tractatus LLC where he organizes, invests and frequently serves in the management of energy and life science companies, most recently including: C Sixty Inc., a drug discovery company developing antioxidant fullerenes (
www.csixty.com), Superior Renewable Energy LLC, an independent developer of utility-scale wind energy facilities (
www.superiorrenewable.com), and Calypso Energy LLC, an oil and gas exploration and development company (
www.calypsocorp.com).
In the pharmaceutical area, Philip assisted in 2001-02 in raising first round financing for C Sixty, an early stage biotech company. In July 2002, Philip was elected Chief Executive Officer to establish the company's commercialization strategy, organize operations, build its laboratories, and hire scientific staff. In 2003, C Sixty entered into an exclusive Research, License and Supply Agreements with Merck & Co. C Sixty was merged in a successful stock transaction with Carbon Nanotechnologies Inc. in December 2004. Philip is a managing partner and director of Calypso Energy LLC, and also serves on the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (NY Chapter) and as a senior advisor to International Family AIDS Program.
He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Chicago, an M.A. in Politics and Economics from Oxford University and a J.D. from Northwestern University Law School.
